Sacred space

A year ago my sister spotted a statue of buddha in the woods. We were curious but also intimidated by the No Trespassing signs along the edge of the road. I've driven past several times since then and taken photos from afar. Today I decided that someone who had a buddha in the woods would not likely be too harsh if they found me on their property. It is a lovely spot with an aura of spirituality.

Sunday in NY

The view from our room -- steamed windows, gloomy skies and snow flurries.

Brunch @Inoteca.

And the main event -- Wicked!

It was wickedly cold in NY this weekend with intermittent snow flurries and penetrating winds, but we had such a good time together. Photographs, Korean dumplings, cupcakes, shopping, more cupcakes, Broadway -- a delightful weekend!

Saturday afternoon at the Met.

The Met is a busy place on the first Saturday of the new year -- people waiting in line to get in, people waiting in line to pay admission, people waiting to check their coats, people waiting in line to see the Robert Frank photography exhibition, The Americans. Those people included the three of us. It was well worth the trouble and well worth the price. It was very interesting to see how this particular photographer organized his work -- thematically. Some of his work was familiar some not. Thank you Miranda of introducing me to his work.

US Botanical Garden

This morning I spent some time at the US Botanical Garden. Before heading for the indoor displays, I walked through the winter garden. The skies were gloomy but the unexpected beauty and vibrant color brought cheer to this first day of the new year.
